Interactive Sound Performance, 2025, 20 min

How does "sound," a mere electrical signal, become "music"? <Interval Response> explores this question through an interactive performance of "Collective Listening."

The audience responds to musical intervals presented by a computer with their personal feelings of "like" or "dislike." An AI learns from this collective judgment in real-time and generates new melodies that the audience is likely to choose, becoming an unpredictable musical partner.

Through a cognitive-musical ensemble between the computer, the human (audience), and the composer, this melody is born as a one-of-a-kind sound that can only be completed by the audience of that day.

This is a unique acoustic experiment that allows the community to re-experience the "human as the agent" who completes music through the act of listening and awareness, all within the cycle of sound's reception and emission.
